Because I want my blog to follow me as I start and build my creative business I want to give full disclosure to my readers. In my December Income Report I mentioned that I began selling the Big Hair Bigger Dreams T-shirts; my first a attempt at selling a ready made item I designed myself.
I wanted to get the merch out quickly so I created the BHBD design, googled some t-shirt printing companies here in NYC, sent my design and ordered a handful of shirts. I did no other research on how to go about selling my products.
Once I photographed my shirts and advertised them on social media, I got a handful of orders BUT because I didn’t buy my items in bulk and only got one or two shirts printed at a time, having each shirt printed was VERY expensive. Add on top of that the cost of shipping, time spent picking up the items and preparing them to ship, I wasn’t making much profit.
Enter the magic that is Spreadshirt!!
According to the Spreadshirt website:
Spreadshirt is your creative platform for custom T-shirts and custom clothing. You can explore our easy to use T-shirt Designer and make your own T-shirt or other personalized clothing products to spread your unique message. Design your own T-shirt by customizing your own text, design, or image on a variety of custom products, like hoodies, hats, or aprons. Spreadshirt has over 100 unique products for all your T-shirt printing and T-shirt design needs. Custom shirts make great personalized gifts for family and friends!
Basically they are a magic company that allows you to partner with them to sell your custom designed T-shirt, team apparel, cell phone cases etc. on their platform. Think of Etsy but for only screen printed items. But the beauty of Spreadshirt is this company let’s you sell on their platform, integrate your online Spreadshirt shop with your own website or blog while they completely own the printing of the products, shipping and customer service. How amazing is that! Frees up a lot of time and reduces a lot of stress.
In my 5 reasons I chose NOT to sell on Etsy post I mentioned one of the reasons why I didn’t want to use Etsy is because I didn’t want to send my customers elsewhere to buy my products. Spreadshirt gives me the ability to list all my Big Hair Bigger Dreams merchandise in one place. The entire purchasing process is done directly on sequinsnpearls.com!
So…without further ad0 – Check out the Big Hair Bigger Dreams new shop page where you can browse, purchase or share an item with a friend. You can place an item in your shopping cart and peruse the blog and then cone back to purchase!
I’ve even got new sweatshirts, men’s and women’s tees and cell phone cases!!!!
I purchased some of the new product just to test it out and I love it! Here are some pics of a few items from the collection:
