To produce monthly income reports or not to produce monthly income reports…..?
I think the first thing I need to say is I want my platform to not only show my DIY projects but also be a diary as I create my creative business selling those projects. I also would like my blog to be a forum for other entrepreneurs and wish-to-be entrepreneurs to learn from my experiences. I want to show my readers that it is possible to fully go after your dreams even when everyone tells you to just continue working that boring 9-5. And with that said, I feel it would be a disservice to my readers to not include monthly income reports as part of my DIY journey.
So I do have an Etsy shop. But to be honest, I am not committed to building it up. I listed items for the sake of listing items. I haven’t promoted my site and honestly feel that my items don’t belong there. I’d much rather have my items on my own blog. I want my customers to come to one place to order anything that I am producing.
So for the past 6 months I’ve been wasting money listing my items on Etsy just to say I have a shop. But, starting next month everything will be listed on my blog. In the shop section. It’ll definitely be more work for me but I feel like it’s the right decision for my readers, customers and really anyone interested in my products.

Customer Orders, Merchandise, etc
It’s always been a dream of mine to sell t-shirts with different sayings on them. I know, kind of weird. But, as weird as it is I actually started doing just that at the end of November. Because it was at the very end of the month I decided to include it in my December report. I have so much to say about this experience so I’m going to save it for a separate post.
What I will say though, is that I actually made some sales!! Yay! I sold 4 t-shirts all together, which selling one is more than I could ask for. Each shirt is priced at $26 so my total sales for the month is…..$108. I have many other plans for this aspect of my business. Hopefully in the coming months this number will grow!
I do not have any customer orders that were filled last month but I have a few now that are in the works and as long as payment is tendered this month, it will be included in January’s income report.

Because I use and access many different websites on different topics I have decided to become an affiliate for as many websites and businesses as I can. One of the ways bloggers make money is by mentioning and linking an item in their posts and then having the reader click the link and possibly purchase something on the referenced website. Making affiliate earnings can be bigggg business. My blog is still so small that I don’t expect this number to increase for a while but if I am already linking to websites like craftsy.com just because of the types of projects I am completing I may as well try to make some coins.

So all in all I have made $108 in December 2014. Making even $1 is more than I could ever ask for. I hope to continue to update and provide these income reports because it holds me accountable and hopefully helps you in navigating entrepreneurship.
We all have to start somewhere, here’s to hard work and success!!
