Hey guys! So I was scrolling through tumblr a few weeks ago and found a super Diy-able Pom Pom hat by Fendi. I’d seen a lot of these fur Pom Poms on winter hats last season but never on a baseball cap. What a cute and fun idea! Perfect for those days you don’t want to do your hair but still want to look cool and on trend!
After sitting on the idea for a while I finally decided to complete the project and believe it or not it literally took me 5 minutes to complete! To complete this project all I needed to purchase was the Pom Pom which I picked up from M&J Trimming in NYC for $20 though I’m sure you can find cheaper ones. A quick Google search turned up this, this and this. The hat I stole from my little brother (sorry Sean!) and the needle and thread I already had on hand. Directions and list of supplies below!!
1.) The Pom Pom I purchased already had strings attached which I used to attach the Pom Pom to my hat. But if yours does not thread the needle with long enough string to stitch around the very center of the hat 4 or 5 times.
2.) Start stitching around the very center if the hat making sure to catch the center of the Pom Pom with each stitch. Be sure to make it secure and tight so that the Pom Pom doesn’t move around too much.
3.) Backstitch around the center of the hat in the opposite direction to secure the thread. In the underside of the hat tie the thread off and viola!
I’m sure you could also glue the Pom Pom on too as long as you’re careful to only glue the very bottom of the Pom Pom and make sure none of the glue seeps out from under the fur.
