I’ve been huge on painting my nails since I was a little girl. I remember I had this huge box with tons of nail colors and would give myself a manicure every week. I even had all the tools and nail brushes and gadgets to create designs. I was only like 10 thinking I was a nail technician lol! Fast forward to adulthood where rent and student loans and of course CLOTHES!!! are more important than getting a manicure every week and you’ll see me with my box of polishes performing my own manicures. Granted I don’t have all the tools I use to but I still get by with a steady hand and nail polish remover lol!
For this look I used:
Two polishes (I used Essie’s ‘urban jungle’ and ‘light the night’)
A small hard plastic surface (I used the top of an old Talenti ice cream jar)
Make up sponge
Step 1.) Paint your entire nail the color you want to be your base color and let dry. I think I did 2 or 3 coats of ‘Urban Jungle’
Step 2.) Use your small surface and pour a bit of your ombré color out of the bottle
Step 3.) Fold your makeup sponge so that you have a corner and dip that into the ombré color
Step 4.) Gently dab the tip of your nail with color and slowly dab toward the cuticle. Your ombré should start forming as you dab the color downward
Step 5.) Carefully fill any spots you missed, clean up your cuticles and voila! All you need to do now is apply a clear top coat and you’re done!
The video below is a 15 second version of the process I did for Instagram. The video quality isn’t the best since it was my first time setting up the shot but I promise to get it right next time!!
